Traditional Chinese Acupuncture
Acupuncture as part of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a very old science. The

oldest textbook, the “Huang Di Nei Jing” originates ca. 300 B.C. and is still the basis of an
established education in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Since these times the unity of body, soul and spirit established the foundation for an
understanding of diseases and their treatment.

Classic acupuncture treatment is a very effective way of treating functional disorders,
psychosomatic troubles and chronic and acute pain (s. “indications”).
According to the beliefs of TCM all of these diseases are caused by blockages of the life-
energy flow “Qi” or by an imbalanced interplay of Yin and Yang in our body.

By the penetration of specific points through fine needles, the flow of the Qi is regulated
and the organism systematically stimulated, to bring itself back into balance.
In other words: the self-healing capacities are activated.

Ear acupuncture
Ear acupuncture is one element of the Traditional Chinese Medicine and known in China

for a very long time.
It was first mentioned in Chinese literature in the „Huang Di Nei Jing“, ca. 3000 years

before our times.
It shows, that this aspect of Chinese medicine is the result of thousands of years old

development and experience.

The French Doctor Paul Nogier connected old Chinese knowledge with African and
Eastern
experiences in ear reflex treatment in the 1950th.
He integrated medical findings, for example about the hormonal system into the reflex
system
of the ear, systemised the whole knowledge and developed a new topography
of the
reflex points of the ear. Therefore his topography is different to the classic Chinese one.

During ear acupuncture very fine needles stimulate reflex points in the ear. These points

relate to the organs of the body. Even the inner emotions can be influenced by them.
Ear acupuncture is often used alone or in combination with body acupuncture to stop people from smoking or to reduce their appetite
